ACL Tear

A study by Boden in Orthopedics June 2000 showed that ACL tears occur with no contact 72% of the time and with contact 28% of the time. The non-contact injuries happened during a sudden deceleration or landing maneuver while contact injuries usually involved a values collapse of the knee. Most injuries occurred at foot strike with the knee close to full extension.
